We’ve developed a draft Social Infrastructure Strategy to guide how we plan, manage and deliver community facilities and open spaces across Albury.

This is Council’s first comprehensive Social Infrastructure Strategy which sets out what social infrastructure we have now and identifies where future investment is needed.

The Strategy establishes four key principles: co-location, connectivity, multifunctionality, and equitable distribution - which underpin all proposed actions in the implementation plan.

Key priorities identified in the draft strategy include:

  • Optimising community space assets by transitioning from smaller, single-purpose facilities to consolidated, multi-purpose district hubs
  • Ensuring equitable access to community and cultural facilities across all neighbourhoods
  • Enhancing the quality of our parks to ensure equitable access to high-quality spaces in every catchment
  • Support public access to natural areas for recreation
  • Create better links between neighbourhoods to make it easier for people to get to our facilities and open spaces
  • More hospital and community health care services to meet increasing demand for medical and health care support
  • New and upgraded schools are needed in the Thurgoona catchment to support the growing population
  • More childcare and preschool facilities are needed to meet the growing demand for early childhood education.

We encourage you to review the draft Strategy and share your thoughts.
