We’re building a new sewage pump station at our Wodonga
Place depot to support our growing city for the next 100 years.
In the next 15 years, AlburyCity’s water and wastewater infrastructure will be reaching capacity as it meets the demands of our growing city. This means AlburyCity will be required to deliver key elements of its future infrastructure within the next five years.
AlburyCity’s Main Sewer Pump Station collects and pumps away about 95% of all sewer flows within the city. Built in 1916, it is located in the historic red brick building at Council’s main works depot on the corner of Smollett Street and Wodonga Place.
As the city continues to grow, this critical infrastructure needs upgrading to continue to provide essential wastewater services to the community.
The project will connect the main sewer pump station to the Waterview treatment plant via new 5.5km sewer mains and will enable the decommissioning of the Kremur St wastewater treatment plant following the upgrade of the Waterview Treatment Plant.
Once completed, the new infrastructure will have the pumping capacity of up to 3000 litres/second - that’s an Olympic-sized swimming pool every eight minutes! It will support the city for the next 100 years.
