The Innovate RAP Template includes 51 prepopulated actions, but at AlburyCity, we want to go further. Our first RAP set an ambitious goal with 71 actions over two years. For our second RAP, we’re aiming for a more focused 60 actions—which means we need to develop or retain 10 actions that truly reflect AlburyCity’s unique commitment to reconciliation.

Below are actions from our first RAP—now’s our chance to decide: Do we keep them, or do we create something new?

Create a Aboriginal Networking Group within Council to support Identified Staff. Aboriginal Staff to have autonomy to attend Aboriginal Community Meetings and Events such as NAIDOC Committee.

Promote annual cultural competency training for Team Leaders and Supervisors of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Staff.

Promote ongoing cultural competency training by embedding this into AlburyCity’s training calendar.

Provide youth pathway opportunities by offering work experience with the Council and mentor support.

Increase the percentage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members employed in our workforce.

Work with the Local Traditional Owners to establish a healing process in response to past mistreatment of First Nations’ people.

Increase visibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and stories within our local area and supporting greater representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices.

Acknowledge cultural history by reviewing the naming of local assets.

Increase visibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within our local area, by investigating options for Acknowledgement of Country and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork.

Increase visibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within our local area, by Implementing traditional Wiradjuri language names for streets and formal Acknowledgement of Country signs on highway entrance to AlburyCity with relevant service leaders, in consultation with local Wiradjuri people.
