Speed Zone Review Request Next Steps
Following community consultation on speed limits across key Albury road segments, Council has endorsed a request for Transport for NSW to undertake a formal speed zone review.
Feedback from over 300 submissions highlighted community concerns about safety, amenity, and road use in areas including the Albury and Lavington CBDs and parts of Thurgoona.
The request will now be presented to TfNSW, who will assess it under the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines.
Lower speeds are conducive to safe, people-centric streets.
Action 3.5 of the MOVE strategy aims to complete a review of the speed zones in the city to create safer streets for all road users.

Speed is the biggest single factor involved in road deaths, contributing to around 40% of road fatalities each year in NSW. Speed limits are one of the simplest and most proven strategies for controlling and regulating driving speeds.

We are seeking feedback from you to understand what you feel are safe and appropriate speed limits on several streets in the city. If you would like to comment on a street that isn’t listed below, please send your feedback to info@alburycity.nsw.gov.au.
