AlburyCity is responsible for managing a wide range of properties, including both land and buildings, to provide services to our communities.

Our property portfolio includes land and buildings that are:

  • Owned by Council;
  • Crown Reserves for which Council has been appointed Crown Land Manager pursuant to the Crown Lands Management Act 2016; and,
  • Occupied by Council pursuant to a lease or licence.

The draft Property Strategy aims to get the most value and benefit from Council’s property assets to support the delivery of services outlined in our strategic plans. It provides a high-level, strategic framework for how we will assess and review property holdings.

The Property Strategy is built around focus areas, which define what we aim to achieve, and guiding principles, which shape how we make decisions. The table below outlines these key areas and principles.

Strategy focus areas
  • Alignment and integration
  • Portfolio management
  • Strategic use of property
  • Activation of Council land
Strategy guiding principles
  • Suitability and effectiveness
  • Social Equity and Inclusiveness
  • Financial Sustainability
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Flexibility

The Strategy acts as a framework for decision making in line with other existing internal policies and plans. It does not deal with operational matters concerning our property-related activities or asset management activities or make specific recommendations related to buildings or land.

We encourage you to review the draft Strategy and share your thoughts.
