Overview

AlburyCity is reviewing how we deliver services to ensure they remain sustainable, efficient and aligned with community needs, now and into the future. This work forms part of our Service Excellence Program and responds to rising costs, increasing demand and the need to maintain essential services while improving our long-term financial position.

Without improvements, Council faces ongoing operating deficits of more than $20 million, making it harder to maintain the services our community relies on. This project aims to identify practical, prioritised adjustments to help return the budget to balance by 2027–28.

Before any decisions are made, we’re asking our community to help guide this work by telling us what matters most.

Why We're Consulting

We want to hear directly from you about:

• the services you value most
• where adjustments may be acceptable
• opportunities for efficiency
• areas where revenue could be strengthened

Your feedback will help shape future budgets and ensure decisions are made with the community’s priorities in mind.

More About This Project

Your input through completing this survey will support a detailed review. It aims to:
• identify achievable, prioritised changes
• improve long-term financial sustainability
• maintain core outcomes valued by the community

It explores options such as:
• improving operational efficiency
• increasing cost recovery where appropriate
• forming commercial or community partnerships
• adjusting service levels for discretionary or lower-use programs
• reducing duplication where services exist elsewhere

Community Involvement

Community input is essential for:
• identifying priorities
• understanding tolerance for change to service delivery
• shaping future service models
• guiding financial decisions

Engagement includes:
• the online Micromex survey
• Micromex phone interviews
• community pop-up sessions
• discussions with community groups

How We’re Collecting Feedback

To ensure all voices are included, AlburyCity is working with independent research consultants Micromex.

Micromex will:
• contact a random selection of community members by phone to gather feedback
• securely collect and analyse survey responses
• ensure independence and research best practice

However, if you wish to participate and choose to complete the survey online, you’ll be taken from this page directly to the Micromex survey website. All responses are confidential and will contribute to Council’s final analysis.

This combined approach helps ensure feedback represents a broad cross-section of the community and strengthens the quality of insights informing Council decisions.

What Happens Next

Council will:
• communicate openly about financial pressures and opportunities
• explain how options were developed
• report back on community feedback
• share how engagement shaped final recommendations

The outcomes of this engagement will guide the 2026–27 Budget and future Long Term Financial Plan.
